In 1967 the great New York Typographer, Herb Lubalin, was asked by his old friend Ralph Ginzburg to design a logo for a new magazine. Herb designed a font using the name of the magazine - Avant Garde and went on to design the entire magazine. Only 16 issues over a period of 3 years were published.
