This commemorative coin was designed by an African
American designer named Isaac Scott Hathaway. The front shows the busts of
both Booker T Washington and George Washington Carver. The obverse reads "FREEDOM AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL - AMERICANISM"

One side features a representation of Shakespeare derived from the Chandos Portrait, ca. 1610, attributed to John Taylor. The reverse is a view of the valley and reads "Wild Above Rule of Art".
